About Volt

Volt partners with K-12 districts to operate statewide virtual public schools. State funding flows to the partner district; we invoice monthly after they receive funds. We bring operations experience (Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri, including scaling a ~120-student district to over 3,000 students), our platform (enrollment, website, family portal, grading, records, reporting and compliance), plus marketing and branding.

The role

We're hiring State Directors for priority expansion states on an accelerated timeline. Target: a host-district partnership ready for Spring 2027 if a pathway allows, or school year 2027-28. In many states, board education, approvals, and filings land roughly November through January, so early outreach matters.

You'll open doors with superintendents and boards, build comfort with the partnership model, land the host, and drive launch prep. This is relationship-driven business development, not classroom coaching.

What success looks like

  • A fast map of policy, funding, board calendars, and filing windows in your state
  • Serious superintendent and board conversations within the first weeks
  • A launch-ready host partnership timed for Spring 2027 or school year 2027-28
  • Support for clean launch prep: systems, compliance, and marketing

Compensation

Base salary in the $60,000-$80,000 range, plus incentives tied to securing and launching a host-district partnership, with room to grow after launch. Structure is discussed with finalists.

Sitting district leaders: dual arrangements may be possible where district board policy allows. We handle that case by case.

You bring

  • Senior K-12 leadership (superintendent, cabinet, charter, or equivalent preferred)
  • Existing relationships with active superintendents and/or boards you can activate now
  • Comfort explaining funding and partnership models, and judging compliant pathways
  • Self-directed remote work with in-state travel, and a bias for speed without cutting corners on compliance
